We all have our own ideas and opinions. However, not all of us are interested in sharing them with others. But, some people are never afraid to share their ideas or opinions with others, be them normal or radical (cực đoan(. Today, I would like to talk about one such person who never seemed to be short of any ideas or opinions!
He seemed to be just a regular guy. I met him rather casually at a book shop when I was trying to buy a storybook for one of my little cousins. He started the conversation with me with a casual enquiry (câu hỏi) about what kind of books I was buying. In response, I told him that I was looking for a book on “fairytale” stories since my cousin was a little girl. He seemed to be a bit irritated (bị kích thích) with my response and told me with a smiling face that I should have bought her a book on “how to become a space scientist” instead. He also told me that books should be “free of cost” for everyone to read so that we can build a “knowledgeable” nation instead of an “educated” one. I didn’t feel like arguing with him because he sounded really interesting. So, he kept on going and told me a lot of things, including how to judge a person by the “language” he or she uses, before leaving the shop.
I think that the guy had some pretty interesting ideas as I also thought that one should be able to get “important knowledge” or “life lessons” for free so that everyone can become a responsible citizen. Besides, there is no proof that reading a fairytale storybook allows a person to achieve her full potential, be it intellectually or professionally, and yet, for some “mysterious” reasons, we keep feeding our children with such “gibberish” (từ vô nghĩa). As his opinion on “language”, I indeed have found a lot of proofs of that around me in the past except that I just didn’t care to find a correlation (sự tương quan) between the language used by a person and his “level of intellect” (mức trí tuệ).

I’m going to talk about my friend, Hardy, who is very good at languages and always has a lot of interesting ideas when it comes to language learning and teaching. He is a fellow teacher (bạn giáo viên) at my workplace (chỗ làm) so we have had a lot of opportunities to work together.
He is fluent in THREE foreign languages, English, Chinese and Japanese, in addition to his mother tongue. So you can imagine, as a language teacher, he has great advantages.
Although language comes to him naturally (điều hiển nhiên), he knows that for others it may not, and always tries to come up with new methods to help language learners improve faster and achieve better results. In addition to imparting (truyền đạt) knowledge, he also does it in an interesting way. For example, at the start of each class, he would have all the students stand up and play some warm-up games instead of going straight into doing routine teaching stuff. Some of the games are even invented by himself and I must say they are all well thought out. I learn a lot from observing (quan sát) his classes and look forward to working more with him in the future.
